Southern Utah Parade of Homes 2009

T
he Southern Utah Parade is never one to disappoint. Every year the builders show their magic and build a feast for the eyes. I had high expectations even in this down economy and was not let down. Here is how our tour went.

The Parade takes place about four hours drive from where we work. After a long drive, we checked in to a beautiful new hotel that was also beyond my expectations and readied for the day to come. We set out to get our tickets and then off to dinner. While sitting at dinner and browsing the tours catalog I jumped up out of confusion and excitement. I had forgotten that I had given a local company permission to use a few of our photos. There sat two of my photos before me, at a nice restaurant, on a nice evening, waiting for the day to come.

The following day we woke up extra early and drove as far as I have ever driven to any parade home. Almost to Zions Canyon, we stopped at a new community of Mexican-Ranch style custom homes. These homes had a very rustic and south of the border look and feel on the outside. A rough and strong looking home against the beautiful red rugged landscape. Once inside the story changes to a more cozy and made-for-you style. The home shows well throughout and feels like home. Never does it over-state or under-state its presence. It carries a very welcoming feeling throughout.

We went from having my shoes stolen at the awe inspiring K. Welch mansion to visiting a magnificent Frank Lloyd Wright inspired dream home.

After we left, we headed back towards the Hurricane area where we would see one of the most expensive homes of the tour. This home was also a ways off from where we are used to seeing the parade homes. I love it when the adventure is as much fun as seeing the homes. So we set out to explore the new luxury neighborhood. Upon arrival we were greeted by numerous attendants telling us how to get to the house an where to park. Once we arrived at the house we saw why. There were literally hundreds of people surrounding this home waiting to get in. It was no wonder, the most expensive homes usually draw the biggest crowds.

House after house from this point was amazing and newsworthy. We went from having my shoes stolen at the awe inspiring K. Welch mansion to visiting a magnificent Frank Lloyd Wright inspired dream home. There are definitely going to be lots of stories to tell in the next several weeks. Ten stories to be exact. So make sure to subscribe to the UtahLuxury.com feed and we will deliver some more stories in the days and weeks to come.

Here are some more photos from the Southern Utah Parade of Homes. Once you are done here, head on over to our Southern Utah gallery section.
